kids play

have yet to go to jonathan hobit's exhibit. incredible images.

i forgot how to dress

after being on the road for so long i've been overexposed to the baggy garb that all backpackers don. hel looks always does the trick...

pop life

about 3 hours of my life were spent at this exhibition at the national gallery. beginning with warhol and incorporating artists such as keith haring, sarah lucas, jeff koons, damien hirst, cosey fanni tutti, tracey emin, and takashi murakami, there was much to take in: painting, sculpture, print, newspaper articles, interviews, tv shows (an episode of the love boat), a stuffed horse, a 'unicorn' suspended in...embalming fluid (?), a quilt, wallpaper, murals, a shop (a replicate of haring's pop shop), a music video staring kirsten dunst, and, of course, some casual pornography! let's just say i need not ask any more questions about koons and his hungarian pornstar wife... i loved watching haring dodgily doing his 'subway art' in nyc, and emin's my major retrospective, which she produced at the start of her career. hilarious!

grizzly bear

on the soundtrack to india, grizzly bear were a staple. favourite song? ready, able. incredible music video.

he who wears pajamas

i was in the ago trying to find the way over to the julian schnabel mid-career retrospective, when the security guard warned me "try not to be underwhelmed." luckily i wasn't, but i guess that was the reaction to his new film, miral, at least. i certainly appreciate his movement between the 'art' and 'film' worlds, and his general ridiculousness - who wouldn't want to befriend someone who insists on wearing purple piped pajamas while residing in a hot pink building in downtown new york?

trouble andrew

new music obsession. presumed he was american but turns out he's from nova scotia. started out as a snowboarder and is currently one of the top ranked pros in the world. together with santigold aka santi white whom i adore.

india

so. six months of backpacking around china, thailand, cambodia, vietnam, a stopover in kuala lumpur, laos and india and i'm done. how could i possibly even begin to explain what has happened to me, what has inspired, thrilled, repulsed, terrorized and, in the end, changed me throughout this time? can't. this picture is but a start!
